As President of the NAPM-Metro Detroit, Harry is responsible for the day-to-day overall operations of the Affiliate.  He works with a team of Board members and Officers, all of whom are volunteers like himself.

Harry has been employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for the past 17 years.  He worked his way through various commodity assignments in Corporate Procurement before accepting a supervisory position in the BCBSM Facilities Management department.  While in Facilities, Harry managed the company’s real estate portfolio and the property acquisition and disposal process.  In addition, Harry was responsible for landlord and tenant relations.  Harry returned to Corporate Procurement in 1993.  Currently, Harry is the commodity manager of the IT goods and services area within Corporate Procurement, where he leads a team of 10 professional buyers in the sourcing and contracting of IT products and services.  In this capacity, Harry has worked on many initiatives to reduce contract -cycle time, including drafting a Statement of Work template form that is widely used throughout the corporation.

Because of BCBSM’s corporate support of non-profit organizations such as the NAPM-MD, Harry has used BCBSM facilities to host many Institute of Supply Management-sponsored satellite seminar presentations and NAPM-MD Board meetings.

Prior to Harry’s employment at BCBSM, he spent a number of years at a major local health care institution, where he worked as a warehouse employee, dock worker and buyer.  In addition, Harry spent five years in the sheet metal manufacturing industry as a traffic manager and buyer.

Harry is an active member of the NAPM-MD and has served on the Board for the past four years as Treasurer and Vice -President.   In addition, Harry was a volunteer instructor for Certified Purchasing Manager studies.

Harry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Oakland University.  In addition, Harry holds three professional designations, including the lifetime C.P.M. designation from the Institute of Supply Management and Real Property Administrator (RPA) and Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) designations from the Building Owners and Management Institute.  Finally, Harry holds a real estate salesperson’s license from the State of Michigan.
